Mold Testing Options
Mold can be found anywhere there is or was humidity present. If you're unsure whether you have mold in your indoor air, we can provide different mold tests to determine potential mold situations.
All mold tests are sent to third party independent labs for validation.
Air Quality Testing
Mold spore trap tests are the most common type of mold test in the industry. Mold spores and mycotoxins in the air may make a person sick, so we recommend this test for cases where one suspects they have a mold problem but cannot see any. Air spore trap testing will identify the species and quantity of mold and other particulates in the air.
Viability Testing
Viability testing is another type of mold testing where mold samples can be cultured in a lab to determine whether or not the visually observed mold spores viewed in an optical setting are viable or alive and potentially growing.
Tape Lift
Tape testing is similar to mold spore trap testing only to collect the mold sample, a sticky substrate is pressed against visible mold on a hard surface to collect the sample. A lab technician will examine the sample to determine the type of mold on the sample but quantifying the amount of mold in a given area is difficult based on tape samples.
ERMI Testing
ERMI testing is more expensive than the other testing methods and has its own sets of pros and cons but is generally a respected test in the industry. ERMI identifies mold DNA from a sample that is typically pulled from a soft surface through a vacuum.
